Mr. Kevin Bernard Winter, age 61, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, March 31st, 2025, at Atrium Floyd Medical Center.
Mr. Winter was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 19th, 1963, to the late Finton Joseph Winter and Barbra Theresa Forster. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one sister, Debi Wheaton. Kevin lived a life marked by dedication, passion and purpose, both in his hobbies and his personal pursuits. He was triumphant in overcoming alcoholism, became an active member of AA, and set to helping as many as he possibly could on their road to sobriety. He was a true inspiration to others and his 42 years of being sober was a testament in itself. His sponsor became one of his closest friends and he wanted to help others as he had been helped. He was known for his smart intuition and it is said that he embodied the phrase "measure twice, cut once". He was a remarkable woodworker, whose furniture and frames were beautiful cherished pieces showcasing his talent. He had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, he spent countless hours redoing his entire bike recently, and a long road riding was something he enjoyed. Kevin's hobbies included golfing, baseball, and spending time with his sons. His sons count "working on their golf swings, riding dirt bikes and playing baseball with Dad in the back yard" as their fondest memories, his devotion to his family will forever continue with them in the years to come. Kevin was a person who loved making people laugh, was known as the biggest jokester, had the best demeanor. He wore many titles in his life: friend, mentor, uncle, brother, and the most important to him - Dad because of all his accomplishments, being a great father was his most important. Kevin will be terribly missed by all those who were fortunate to know him, and the memories he left will be cherished forever.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher Winter and Glen Winter; mother of his children, Audrey Roark; two sisters, Michelle (Tracy) Waters and Laura (James) Winter; one brother, Joseph (Cindy) Winter; one brother in law, Noel Wheaton; three nieces, Elisa Wheaton, Jenna Winter, and Amelia (Christopher) Rullan; one nephew, Jack Wheaton; his best friend, Randy Dohme.
