Peggy Ann Owen

Mrs. Peggy Ann Owen, age 92, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Saturday morning, November 16th, 2024. She was born July 24, 1932 in Sugar Valley, GA to the late Joe B and Ruby Holcomb. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, David H. Owen and her brother and sister in-law Max and Martha Holcomb of Dalton.

Peggy loved her family and friends. She was active in garden clubs and had a multitude of flowers planted at her home along with a vegetable garden. Peggy graduated from Berry College in 1953 and was a school teacher at Valley Point Elementary School for several years. Peggy and her husband David Owen started Owen Carpet located in Dalton, GA in 1977, and they ran it until 1989. This was a family business and she enjoyed working with all of the employees. She was greatly loved and will be missed by her friends and family. 

 She is survived by her daughters, Kay Dlugonski and Donna Holsomback, three Grandchildren, Justin Smithey, Jeremy Smithey, Jessica Dlugonski and three Great Grandchildren, Lydia Steady-Dlugonski, Grayson Smithey and Violet Smithey. Nephew Michael Holcomb.

Visitation to celebrate the life of Peggy Owen will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 4 PM until 8 pm at Ponders Funeral Home, 138 Melrose Dr., Dalton, Ga.
