Steve Young

Mr. Steve Young, age 73, of Fairmount, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, at The Oaks in Fairmount, Georgia.

Mr. Young was born in Pickens County, Georgia, on April 18th, 1951, to the late Homer Ernest Young and the late Odell Young. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Berley Young and Tex Cheyenne Young; one brother in law, Travis Pack. Mr. Young proudly served in the United States  Army and loved his country. He was known for his happy demeanor and was always a jokester. He could keep the whole room laughing and was the one behind the funniest (and best!) pranks. He was a kind man who did everything he could for all those he encountered, and could flirt with the best of them. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends more than anything. Mr. Young will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all those who were fortunate to know him and those who loved him deeply.

Survivors include his two daughters, Karen (John) Champion and Raina Camp; one stepson, Kevin Choate; five grandchildren, Justice (Trevor) Jeter, Michael (Reese)Champion, Jada "Katie" (Hank) Champion, Riana West, and Myla Brown; one great grandchild, Logan Jeter; two sisters, Frances Pack and Diane (George) Wilson; one sister in law, Glenda Young; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family of Mr. Steve Young wishes to express their sincere gratitude to The Oaks in Fairmount, Trinity Hospice Care, and especially to his nurse, Missy, for the kindness, support, and care shown to Mr. Young.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, at 2 PM at Friendship Baptist Church in the Ludville Community in Pickens County with Rev. Joseph Hightower officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include Khadyn Lau, Jacob Blackstock, Billy Clark, Devin Parker, Billy Mauldin, and Jeremy England.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, from 5 PM until 8 PM in the chapel of Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Mr. Young will lie in state at Friendship Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, from 12 noon until the funeral hour of 2 PM.
