Vivian Olivia Varner

Mrs. Vivian Olivia Varner, age 79 of Rome, passed away on Tuesday October 10th, 2023, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Varner was born in Plainville, Georgia on June 2nd, 1944, to the late James Bradford Culberson and the late Ida Morrow Culberson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Jewell Montieth; four brothers, Billy, James, Wendell, and Clinton Culberson. Mrs. Varner was retired from Astro Dye and was of the Baptist faith. She loved visiting the mountains and she especially loved her grandchildren. She loved gospel music and enjoyed travelling and singing with her family’s gospel group, The Joyful Trio.

Survivors include her two sons, Desi Culberson (Len) of Soddy Daisy, Tn., and Lamar “Perry” Varner (Jennifer) of Rome; one daughter, Tara Southerland of Rome; five grandchildren, Haley Martin, Megan Morris, Brandon Varner, Dakota Varner, and Morgan Varner; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Wade, and Zoey; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 14th, 2023, at 2 PM at Lakeview Pentecostal Church (149 Legg Lake Rd Plainville, Ga) with Rev. Steve Morrow and Rev. Matthew Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Snow Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include, Brandon Varner, Dean Monteith, Jacob Monteith, Jerry Culberson, Daniel Culberson, and Scott Highfield. Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church at 1:30 PM on Saturday.

The family will receive friends on Friday October 13th from 5 PM until 9 PM at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Varner will lie-in-state on Saturday from 1 PM until 2 PM at the church.
